  2. Prepare 1 cup of coconut.
  3. Take 4-5 of green chillies.
  4. Use 1 cup of pudina(mint leaves).
  5. Use 1 cup of dhaniya(coriander leaves).
  6. Prepare to taste of Salt.
  7. Provide 1 cup of onions(optional).
  8. Take 1 tablespoon of grated ginger(optional).
  9. Prepare 1/2 cup of curry leaves.
  10. Get 1/4 tsp of hing/ asafoetida.
  11. Get 1/2 tsp of jeera(cumin seeds).
  12. Prepare As needed of Oil for deep fry.

Steps to make Masala Vada:

  1. Soak Chana dal for at least one hour..
  2. In a blender, blend soaked Chana dal, jeera, green chillies and coconut into a coarse paste..
  3. Transfer it into a bowl and add finely chopped dhaniya leaves, Pudina leaves salt turmeric curry leaves and Hing. Today being festival, I have not added onions and ginger. Or else add that also.Mix it well..
  4. Make small balls and flatten it. Then deep fry it till they turn golden brown. Serve it with tomato ketchup..
